Oh my god fuck this place.

seriously this school sucks dick. Why are we still in here?!? When I ask this a get this response from teachers... "Well you wanted those snow days!" Are u kidding me?? oh ya I just started up the weather machine in my room and down came the snow. I AM AS HELPLESS TO WEATHER AS YOU ARE! Students dont make snow days we just enjoy them. Why do we have to have 180 or 190 days or whatever it is. why?? why cant we just have an end date and snow days can just be snow days. There is no point to adding these days in. There is no further "education." Missisng a day or two during the year isnt going to give us any less of an "education."

Whats wrong with our school programs

Our school system sucks pretty bad I would say. I don't know everything about it so I'm not going to act like I do but in my opinion some things just need to change. First off starting school at 8 o'clock for highschool and 9 for elementry schoolers? really? The kids that get up and run around at 6 in the morning get the most time in the morning while teenagers like myself who actually enjoy sleep get less time in the morning. I guerantee that if school went from 10-4:45 instead I would pay attention a lot better and be way more energetic and ready for the day. Like on 2 hour delays I much better simply because I got way more sleep. On to a much larger topic involving the school system...

WHY do I have to take all these stupid required classes like chemistry, Algebra 2, LA 10 etc. The reason I get from teachers is that oh well its for people who dont really know what they want to do so mabey one of these classes will spark their interest in something. Or its to get a better education and become a more well rounded person. WOW what a load of crap. I know teachers hear this a lot but I REALLY will not need to know ANY of this crap. I think that schools should only require up to the algebra 1 level in math and students should only have to understand the english language in LA none of this shakespeare bullcrap. After the requirements classes should be o fully ptional on what you want to take and their should be more career oriented classes that actually prepare students for their future. A second thing homework. I mean really? why? I come to school to work and than I go home to relax. I go to school 5 days of the week and I get 2 free days. On top of that ratio you also want me to take home work from school? What is the point of it? Most all teachers base most of their grades on homework and this is just ridiculous. All this does is reward students for getting something pointless done. wooo you completed a worksheet, you could have copied it or bullshited it. Grades should soley be based on class participation and knowledge of the material. The occasional take home project is alright but homework is just pointless. alright I'm going to stop ranting now.

Reflecting on blogging

It has been almost an entire school year since I started blogging on this thing and i have come to the conclusion that blogging is not that bad. I would probably not do it in my free time at home but it's probably the best school assignment I have probably ever had. I'm very glad that I finally had an assignment that let me write about exactly what I wanted to write about and not just writing about stupid things that meant nothing to me like Romeo and Juliet. When I first heard that we were going to blog in this class I really didnt know what to think. I had the idea that we were probably just going to blog about boring school related stuff but when I heard that it would be about whatever we wanted I was very excited. I would say the only hard thing about this assignment is trying to keep coming up with so many things to blog about and keeping it fresh without boring the reader. Other than that my reaction to blogging is pretty positive. I enjoyed it as an assignment and would recommend that more teachers use this technique.

My favorites

The first image is that of my randall cab. It has 2 criss-crossed celestion speakers with different sounds. the second picture is of my ENGL Powerball tube head and it gives me just about every sound I could ever need. It gives me perfect tone. there are 4 channels w/ 4 master volumes. Another great feature on this tube amp head is that it has a built in noise gate knob in the back. This lets me elimate all the unwanted noise inbetween notes. The final image is of my Ibanez s-series guitar. It is my favorite guitar that I own and it plays very well.

What is up with the summer slaughter tour?!??!?

that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this years line up for the summer slaughter tour. Suffokation? Necrophagist?? oh my god it is just terrible. The thought that a band named "dying Fetus" can play amongst the ranks of After the Burial makes me want to give up on music forever. Don't even get me started on "suffokation." First off are you kidding me look at their logo. probablt the worst logo I have ever seen. The band name sucks and they sound like a bunch of middle aged men that didnt give up on their dream like I wish they would have years ago so now all the dirty long haired 30 year old men can have a band to go see besides all their beloved Slayer and Pantera cover bands. Well who should be headlining you ask? It's obvious.. After the Burial.

My anger against conservative values

Ok lets get this straight I am not a democrat. I would say that I have liberal ideals with a more rebulican look at the government polocies. I don't believe in people paying ridiculous taxes to pay for others but I do believe that money from the government should go out to those who need it. Than people say taxes are government money thats where they get the money to pay for stuff blah blah ya i know but I'm talking about the money givin to government officials after they leave office. Some still get a pay check and some are just handed loads of money and free mailing services and all other sorts of payed benifits. That money should be going to the lower and middle class people who need financial assistance not of every wealthy american because believe it or not, not all of them are heartless evil capitalists trying to keep the poor man down. ANYWAY now to the real topic.

My anger with conservative values begin with their fetish with the "good old days." Oh ya the good old days when gays and other minorities were seen as evil or less than a regular white person. The good old days when the white man was the head of the household and the woman stayed at home all day. The good old days where every sunday everyone went to church and there was no questioning the all mighty "God." The good old days where we all obeyed and didn't question our leaders in government. In my eyes conservatives are against progress. Um hello CONSERVatives. They want to conserve the good old days and the values from them. They are against new ways of society that betray their old ideals kinda like a Little kid that doesn't want to give away his bear away so they get all pissy and start throwing their blocks at other kids who have already givin up their bear or never had one.

The danger of Islam and how it hurts the modern day world

As I write this I have a feeling that the Aministration will have me take it off. But why? I'm simply critiqing religions and islam is one of them. It's like Blah blah christianity, "watch it your getting offensive" blah blah Judeism, "dont be such an antisemite" than blah blah islam "U WILL DIE!!!." Even now as my teacher hovers by I am worried that he will look at it and make me erase it. Anyway i will simply speak my mind..

I believe that islam is dangerous pretty much for the same reasons that literal christianity and juedism are. They detach people from the real world, fill their heads with fantasys of some after life and give them a black and white mentallity where there right and your wrong so go to hell. Where else have we seen this black and white mentallity....

Where are our armed forces now? Where are soldiers and civilians dying constantly right now? I will tell you where, the middle east. Why? Well why is there war there... Because Muslims and Jews don't exactly see eye to eye over there and the jewish "homeland" is smack dab in the middle of the muslim "homeland." This hurts our modern day world because the people in this area are always fighting, always suffering and always oppressing. Islam is a religion of violence and intolerance to any who do not believe. Lets take this verse from the Koran.

this is why there is violence in the middle east! People who do not believe are named beasts and are inferior just as the Nazi's believed Jews and other minorities are inferior and just as the KKK believes blacks are inferior. This type of mentallity is simply wrong and it goes under my list stuff of we don't need.

My Extreme distaste for religious indoctrination and christianity

As I have said before in my blog I am an Anti-Theist. I Believe the religion is detremental to modern day society. I AM NOT a satanist or any varient because i believe that is equally as stupid as believing in god

This Type of Religous indocrtrination and black and white mentality is what i believe is a key contributer to hate, discrimination and prejiduce in the world today.. But don't dare think that oh well these are extremists and they are interpereting the holy book(s) wrong. No they are not extremists they are what i call literalists of the religion. They are simply taking the religion as it was written. People who are not doing this really aren't following the relgion as it was meant to. In the case of the bible it is the "word of god" and must be followed or you will go to hell. All people of the 3 major religions followed this through the bronze age and up until the 19th century. Than societies morals started to change and we started to pick and choose parts from the bible that we liked. We left out all the parts where it discriminates. Especially against women...

Why the Straight Edge Is the worst venue ever

First and most important reason.. Tim. Tim Mcray is a stupid, incoherent, little inbred child. He is the owner of the place. "The Straight Edge" is a garage behind his house that he uses as a venue. I do applaud him for attempting to provide a place for Cedar Rapids bands to play at but this is just awful. The space you have to play is about the size of a fancy closet and sometimes the power gets cut off so everything can just not work sometimes. Oh ya did I forget to mention it's in the ghetto? Basically the management sucks, the locations sucks and the building itself sucks. This is why the Straight Edge is the worst venue ever.

Review of "They're Boysenberry"

"They're Boysenberry" is a blog written by my fellow classmate Aubrey Heller. By the way that reminds me of hellen keller. so i'm going to call her hellen keller due to the poor quality of her sad excuse for a blog. When you first open up her page you are bombarded with a plethera of crappy colors all mish moshed together as if a baby just threw up all over the place. Her blogs are very short and the sentances are spaced WAY to far apart. Hellen spacing your sentances farther apart doesn't actually extend the length of the blog. When I read through your posts it's like I'm reading through the diary of an ADD ridden third grader. What kind of "num nums" are you eating.......shrooms maybe?? Way to be professional Hellen. As americans we all know that the only people that do those types of things are hippies, terrorists, and communists. ARE YOU A COMMY HELLEN KELLER!??!!?!? If so than get out becuase THIS IS AMERICA!!

Review of "The Servant Serpant" by Impending Doom

March 31, 2009 Deathcore band Impending Doom released their cd "The Serpant Servant." It is their sophmore release and shows much improvemnt. The major issue(which is not considered a issue by all) is that this album sounds almost near identical to Whitechapel's "This is Exile." It is a common opion amongst a lot a people that listen to this kind of music. The mix is near identical, the riffs are mear identical, even some of the fills are near identical. Over all it just kinda sounds like whitchapel. HOWEVER this does not make it a bad cd. I personally enjoy the cd very much. This cd is not completley the same and still offers some unique and interesting material. Some of the breakdowns in this cd i like more than breakdowns on "this is exile" and I like the drumming way more in this cd. Although the vocalist only does low/mid screams he still brings a great beastly quality to the mix. My one and only real problem with the album is the lyrics and message. Impending Doom is a christian metal band. Their lyrics derive from christian themes and messages. Things like, "We will battle for our kingdom. We are More than Conquerers!" and "When everythings God, Anything goes!" It pretty much sucks but whatever. Point is.. this cd is an amazing metal cd but I dock points for originality. I give it a 8 out of 10.

Why I dont have a car anymore

It was a calm night on march 6, 2009 when I was driving south on edgewood road. My friend Mitch was on the phone with his mom. All of a sudden the car in front of me stopped and I slammed on my breaks. BOOM! We smashed into the car in front of us going 40 mph and the car behind us immediately followed up. The airbag dust was everywhere. Including my lungs which made it hard to breathe. In a haze I struggled to find the emergency blinkers and as soon as I found the switch I turned them on. I then had to bash my door to get out. I stumbled awkwardly out of my jeep and out into the middle of edgewood road. The world seemed to spin and there were many voices around me. The lady behind us had apparently went under my jeep and bent the frame. We hit the car in front of us so hard that the back of their car went into their wheels. My friend and I were out there for around an hour and a half and finally had to get a ride home. I hope to never experience that again.

What I think about blogging..

Honestly I don't really have an opinion about blogging. What I like about it is that you can basically type about whatever you want and people have the option to read it. I think it is a good way to express ones self and a good way to get ideas out and flowing. I don't really know if there is anything that I would really consider negative about blogs......Well I guess a personally negative thing would be that I dont have much to write about. I don't feel that i could pump out a few hundred words a week. But that isn't really a problem with blogging itself thats a problem with me. Even now I'm just kind of rambling because I dont really know what to say. So i will stop now.

Review of "Homesick" by A Day to Remember

IT IS FINALLY HERE!! Ocala, florida hardcore/pop punk band A Day to Rememeber has just released their new full length cd "homesick." it has been quite sometime since the release of their second full length titled "For Those Who Have Heart" and their fans have been waiting. First off let me start by saying I love this cd! Alright now onto the review.

Ok first lets start off with the over all sound. The mix is amazing quality and is a real step up for A Day to Remember. In this cd I think they have finally mastered their sound in the sense of how they want there songs to sound like not the actual mix. This cd unlike FTWHH is more pop punk oriented over all. The songs feature quite a bit more singing than screaming and many breakdown opportunities are replaced with melodic bridges. But don't get me wrong ADTR is still brutal. I would say that the heavier parts in this cd are just better and in fewer number because of it.. kind of like a quality over quantity thing. Jeremy their vocalist is just as good as he was at singing on the other cd's but his screaming has gotten much better and you can really tell he has been practicing. Other than the vocals the band has improved immensly as well. The writing is great and everything blends quite well. The guitars sound great and the drums have some pretty unique fills and the breakdowns are pretty epic and well placed. Over all its a pretty amazing cd and i would recommend it to anyone.

The Comman Man's Collapse = my favorite album ever

Chicagos finest Veil Of Maya has been on the metal music seen for a few years now and they have released to full length albums. One being "All Things Set Aside" and the other being "The Common Man's Collapse." Now obviously I think that "The Common Man's Collapse" is better but that doesnt mean that "All Things Set Aside" isn't an amazing cd because it is. However I'm not here to talk about that cd. Ok so basically Veil of Maya's "The Common Man's Collapse" has to be my favorite cd ever. Veil of Maya is a tech/deathcore/progressive metal band and they are amazing. The cd first starts out with the song "wounds" which is really more of an intro and it starts with this high toned whining guitar and than a breakdown smashes in on top of it. This really sets a good tone for the whole cd. It shows that it will be both beautiful and brutal at the same time which it pull of flawlessly. An example of this is the song "It's Not Safe to Swim Today" Which opens with a nice fast guitar riff and speeds itself right into a heavy thrash beat. No other metal band I know can pull off all these smooth transitions or complicated riff structures like Veil of Maya can. My other favorite thing about this cd is the production and mixing quality. It is purely amazing. This cd is so crisp and well produced there is no fuzzing or echo and every instrument is clearly audible. I have no gripes at all with this cd. Over all I would give it a 10 out of 10 any day.

Why The Horde Sucks.

In my days I have gone to see quite a few metal/hardcore bands from A Day to Remember to Veil of Maya. At each of these shows I have had to endure some pretty poor performances by opening bands, But none as horrible as The Horde. Ok so picture this your standing on the show floor waiting for the first band to play and you see 4 guys walk out. The first is about 7 feet tall with a small beer gut and long wavy hair with a drunken stagger. He looks to be about 50 something years old and he is wearing a black sleeveless shirt that says death to rap on it. The second is very short with a hunting cap on and a really round waist line. he kind of looks like the girl from willy wonka when she turns into a blueberry except hes a greasy older hairier man. The third has gray pulled back hair and is also round around the stomach and has a kind of sleepy appearance. Finally the fourth just as round as the other 2 walks out looking very proud and confident. As I am witnessing this i think to myself oh god i hope this isn't the band. Sure enough It was and the vocalist carrying his bass guitar steps up to the mic. In a loud high pitched obnoxious voice he introduces the band, "Hello Iowa City!!! We are THE HOOOOOORDDDAH!" Then they start the music with a very unenthusiastic presence. As you listen it all starts to blend together in a very awkward ugly way. The drums repeat the same rhythm without any good fills, the guitars play dirty basic riffs with the occasional mediocre solo and the vocalist just rips your ear drums open with his girly scratchy whining. As if that isn't enough to make you want to give up on music forever than just wait till you hear their lyrics, they are nothing you couldn't find on the back of a diablo 2 box. They rant about vikings and witches and skulls, I'm sorry at this day in age no person in their right mind is going to want to listen to a flabby old whiney man yelp on about witches and skulls. All in all this is why The Horde SUCKS!
